Citizenship and Naturalization

If you are considering applying for U.S. citizenship, we at MathurLaw LLC can walk you through the naturalization process. If you have had a green card for 5 years (3 years if you are married to a U.S. citizen, you can apply for U.S. citizenship.)  However, there are several steps involved.

  • You must have good moral character. (A criminal record, unpaid child support, failure to file tax returns, or other issues might make you ineligible for naturalization.  We at MathurLaw LLC can help you obtain a waiver of ineligibility wherever possible and help you attain citizenship.)
  • You must have lived continuously in the United States.
  • You must pass an exam on American history and government.
  • You must be able to read, write, and speak English.

We can help you determine whether there is anything that might negatively affect your application, accompany you for hearings, and make appropriate legal arguments on your behalf. Contact us for more information and a confidential consultation.

Note: Recent changes in immigration law and USCIS procedures now make it easier for U.S. military personnel to naturalize.
