Domestic Violence
You do not need to have been physically abused to be a victim of domestic violence. Under Pennsylvania law, all of the following actions are examples of domestic violence:
● Actual physical injury
● Verbal threats, such as when someone threatens to hit you
● False imprisonment (preventing you from leaving a car or home)
● If you have a reasonable fear of impending bodily injury, such as when someone threatens you with a knife or fist, or throws objects or punches walls
● Harassment, stalking or offensive phone calls threatening violence
If you have been threatened with violence or been the victim of domestic violence, seek legal protection. If you would like to discuss abuse issues, whether related to a divorce or otherwise, you can schedule a consultation with an experienced family law attorney at MathurLaw, LLC.
